Visitors to the venue's annual celebration on Friday 10 October can come face-to-face with history, from giant dinosaurs and rampaging Romans to valiant Vikings and visionary Victorians.

A Night at Your Museum promises to ignite the curiosity and fire the imaginations of time travellers of all ages, with the portal packed with attractions and activities.

Children can embark on a prehistoric adventure with giant - but gentle - dinosaurs, while visitors can step into the past via a Victorian magic mirror photobooth, before dressing up and striking a pose for the camera.

Young Vikings can test aim and accuracy in the inflatable axe throwing arena, and budding Robin Hoods can aim for the bullseye with a bow and arrow at the archery range.

Visitors can transform into Roman gladiators or emperors courtesy of historic re-enactment specialists Guarderobe, and roll up, roll up for Dan the Hat's Victorian Circus, where Dan performs magical tricks and youngsters of all ages can explore a treasure trove of Victorian toys and games.

Tom the Tale Teller entertains time travellers in need of a break, spinning tales from the distant past which take audiences to ancient lands to meet legendary heroes.

Visitors seeking a pause from the time portal can meet Far Out Faces face painting and be transformed into historical figures, while a Night at Your Museum also has a neolithic-inspired relaxed room, featuring tactile play and ambient lighting to mimic the glow of a campfire.

Cllr Maggie O'Rourke, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for partnerships and wellbeing, said: "A Night at Your Museum has been a firm favourite with visitors for many years and we're looking forward to hosting another fantastic event at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.

"The 'portal through time' promises to take visitors on a magical journey through history, with plenty of activities and attractions on offer for all the family."

A Night at Your Museum starts at 5.30pm on Friday 10 October.

Admission can be booked for 5.30pm, 6.30pm or 7.30pm, with places priced £4 (under two-year-olds free).

Cllr Neil Sandison, Rugby Borough Council's Liberal Democrat group spokesperson for partnerships and wellbeing, said: "This fun event is always popular with our young and not so young visitors to Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.

"It kick-starts the winter programme and demonstrates the variety of activities available in the town centre all year round."
