This summer, Rugby Borough Councils Play Development team is bringing a new look and feel to National Play Day celebrations with the PLAYHEM Town Takeover - a three-day programme of free, open access play experiences across Rugby Town Centre.

Rather than focussing on a single day event space, this year's programme is designed to bring play directly into the heart of the town through creative pop-up activities, street play, movement, games, arts and playful encounters led by our play team, artists and activity facilitators.

By activating everyday urban spaces alongside our parks and green areas, we want to encourage children, young people, families, and communities to rediscover the town centre as a place where play and curiosity can happen anywhere.

Every child has a right to play, and playful instincts do not disappear with age.  The PLAYHEM Town Takeover celebrates the idea that play is for everyone, helping to create welcoming spaces where people can pause, join in, connect with others and experience moments of whimsy and fun throughout their normal day.
