Land can be contaminated by a variety of sources, such as waste disposal, industry or naturally occurring substances.

For land to be classed as contaminated, it must pose a significant risk to either humans, wildlife or water resources.

The council has a legal duty to keep a public register of contaminated land in the borough.

We currently have no contaminated land on the register.
