GUIDANCE NOTES FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY DURING ORGANISED LITTER PICKS<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/b><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

This guidance has been updated to include specific COVID19 requirements<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/b><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

The following guidelines must be read and electronically signed before the delivery/collection of the litter picking equipment.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

  1. Rugby borough council will ensure that all litter picking equipment loaned to organisers will be sanitised prior to issue.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n\\t
  2. All volunteers should use the litter pick sticks provided, and wear appropriate PPE and clothing, gloves and footwear, suitable for wearing on the day of the activity.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n\\t
  3. Exercise care when picking up large/sharp pieces of rubbish.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n\\t
  4. If needles are found they should be left untouched and reported to the organiser of the event, who will arrange with the Rugby Borough Council to have them removed in the correct manner.  Please give precise location of any needles found.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n\\t
  5. Be aware of traffic on busy roads whilst litter picking and wear high visibility vest where provided.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n\\t
  6. It is recommended that all gloves used by group members are disposed of as general refuse at the end of the event.<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n\\t
  7. All loaned items must be sanitised before being returned to Rugby Borough Council Offices<\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/li>\\n<\\/ol>\\n\\n

    <\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

    Whilst Rugby Borough Council will provide the equipment required for any litter picking events that you may hold; they take no responsibility for any injury or accident sustained whilst using the equipment. Once equipment has been issued to you, it is your responsibility to maintain it. Please note that we will also supply bags for any events you may hold. <\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

    A suitable and sufficient risk assessment should be carried out before any activities take place to include the requirement for correct PPE, sanitisation of equipment used and social distancing requirements.<\\/span><\\/b><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

    It is the sole responsibility of your organisation to ensure that any events carried out are done so safely and that specific COVID19 Government and PHE guidance is always adhered to.     If it is felt that social distancing and other Government safety guidance cannot be met, organisers should consider postponing the event to a later date.<\\/span><\\/b><\\/span><\\/span><\\/span><\\/p>\\n\\n

    If you require Rugby Borough Council to collect litter and waste that you pick on any given event, you must advise them of the date of the event and the location where any bagged litter will be left.
